Sweet potato pie is family staple in my household for Thanksgiving. It is indeed a delight I would not want to be without on Thanksgiving Day. Here is our recipe.
|Prepare the pie crust. Homemade is always best!|
1 large sweet potato (about a pound)
1/2 cup butter (one stick, softened)
1/2 cup milk
1 cup sugar
|Fresh harvested sweet potatoes from our garden|
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
|Baked and peeled|
Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool and set for about an hour before serving.
|Mash and mix well|
|Pour into pie shell and bake|
